A few screen-grabs for some music videos I made for a new dear friend SALOMAR, who I deeply admire for his incredible music sensibility and wouderfully talented body of work thus far. I will be posting low rez versions of a couple of the music videos I made for a recent concert he had in Mar del Plata, Argentina, via VIMEO soon. Unfortunatly, despite all efforts, the theater did not have the technical capabilitys at the time to display the videos I made..(sigh) ... but the concert was wounderfull and a total succes without .... KUDOS SALO!!!!.

3 sec cut-inn animation samples/PREMIOS LOBO DE MAR 2010

A few samples of some cut-inn animation secuences in a rough illustrative style. I had to hand draw, animate, edit, sound sinq, and add the finishing post effects en AF for all 52 catagorys awarded in the event ... in les than two weeks (FUN, FUN, FUN). In additin to this I also made an additional animation for the openning of the awards show (see VIMEO link for a low rez directors-cutt version). no sleep was intended within the three weeks of this almost impossible mission. Client was pleazed, and all work was turned in before deadline. Needless to say... I slept for two days straight afterwords. (gettin old )

AVALOKITESHVARA अवलोकितेश्वर

A poster print I made as a gift to all friends, after a most inspiring Tibetan Buddhist retreat in Mar de Cobos, Argentina early this year. (if you would like a printable version, just let me know). Below is a brief description of the nature of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion, who may well be the most well known and beloved of the iconic bodhisattvas. Throughout all schools of Mahayana Buddhism, Avalokiteshvara is venerated as the ideal of karuna. Karuna is the activity of compassion in the world and the willingness to bear the pain of others.

Avalokiteshvara
is the earthly manifestation of Amitabha Buddha, who represents mercy and wisdom. The bodhisattva is said to appear anywhere to help all beings in danger and distress.

Book Cover Design

...Namaste,
I was recently commissioned with the great honor of developing a book cover illustration and corresponding jacket design, for the Sapinsh translation of a very influential book titled "Leadership for an Age of Higher Consciousness", by B.T. SWAMI. Below are two samples depicting the Illustration , Front, Back and incerpt designs. Within the design process of developing the final outcome, The client inishaly wished to include a Lion (representing "strength" and "leadership"), and a Lotus flower (representing "higher conciousness"). Respecting the powerfull meaning of the combination of these two imageries, a stylized ancient Lion was depicted, poised within the center of a Lotus flower, representing "leadership" guarding the spiritual wisdom, which sprouts from the center of "Higher Counciousness". Based on the powerfull nature of this book, I hope the imagery acheieved will compliment the higher meaning within its pages..,

Root or "Muldhara" Chakra (The First Chakra)

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine where the snake, the kundalini, is coiled three and one half times when at rest. This is the chakra of manifestation and is associated with grounding, survival and beginnings. Following is a table listing the symbols and sounds associated with the first or root chakra:

The sacral chakra is located in the lower abdomen, centered between the navel and the genitals and is the vortex of change, emotion, pleasure and movement. It deals with opposites, polarities and empathy. This chakra corresponds to the nerve ganglion, is connected to the sciatic nerve, and is frequently referred to as the "seat of life". The Chinese I Ching system is based in an understanding of this chakra as is Tai Chi (yin/yang). Following is a table listing the symbols and sounds associated with the sacral chakra:

The crown chakra is located above the head and is the vortex of consciousness and transcendence. When developed we discover the thousand-petaled lotus blooming at the top of the head. In Sanskrit, this chakra is called the Sahasrara, meaning thousandfold or infinite. Yogis call it the "seat of enlightenment". The element of this chakra is thought and its function is knowing,and this knowing comes from meditation. Following is a table listing the symbols and sounds associated with the seventh or crown chakra:

Lotus Symbols: There are 1,000 lotus petals representing the infinite. In the center of this lotus symbol is the fullmoon.

--- about the design: The Process for IC2 started over 10 years ago with "Working the Inner Clock" v01, when Phil let me know that he was making the second edition , I couldn't Waite to give Inner Clock a new face lift.. the original design as far as concept goes, was not bad, but the execution had become more than outdated, so much time had passed, so many roads traveled, so IC2 got a face lift, but the spirit izz still the same...

नरसिंह ( Narasiṃha)

...This piece was recently commissioned by a client, and was a great honer for me to try and depict. He is Narasimha, a half -lion half -man representation of divine anger, and one of Hinduisms most popular deities. According to Vaishnava Theology , he is a great "protector" and indicates God's omnipresence amongst all things. I took me about 2 weeks to finish the final comp, because of the powerful subject mater.... and It was fun spiritual ride, for it sparked deep feelings of inner peace and anger within me while blocking him out. I finally tamed the composition down with a cooler pallet and peaceful relaxed Yogic posture .... " O kamasikha Narasimha!

Ace of Swords

... a sample of some more art work I just finished . This is my second tribute to Lord Ganesha (AUM GANESHA NAMAHA .. Gia Gia !!!).

I made this piece for one of the art exhibits I was invited to participate in, in October. The theme of the art show is Tarot cards...and lucky me, the card which choose me, was one from the minor Arcana... the "Ace of Swords", which symbolizes MENTAL FORCE, FORTITUDE, JUSTICE, and TRUTH. After meditating within the nature of this card, a couple of different versions stood out in my mind, and the piece depicted below is what came out from my heart... Lord "Ganesha" standing on the shoulders of Lord "Garuda".

I tried to do my best to include all the symbolism which represents the Ace of Swords and its meaning. It was a fun and rewarding experience do depict, as well as a personal challenge to make, hope it will be well received.I've also included below, a brief description of some of the details which better describe the meaning within the Ace of Swords ( for those interested in this sort of thing).

ACE OF SWORDS

The Aces of all suits typically represent new beginnings or the inspiration of a new idea or feeling. The Ace of Swords augurs a new understanding of some issue that has been of concern, or the dawning of a new world view in the broader sense. This card indicates the eruption of a new point of view, the inspiration of discovery or intellectual accomplishment. If you encounter this card in a reading, there is an indication that your intellectual life is either receiving too much or too little attention. Though there is great value in the inspiration and power of the mind, intellect must be tempered by compassion and spirit for its true value to be manifested. The two-edged sword cuts deeply in either direction, and a fine line must be walked to achieve the balance necessary for a healthy life. The Ace of Swords is a card of great power and is thus a sign that temperance may be necessary.

Strength, achievement, honest and ethics, judgment, self determination, championing causes, breakthrough, entrance of the knight on a white horse, release, new freedom, lifting of restraint, a beginning, breath of life, vitality, universal conscious, expansiveness, mind over matter, success, conquest, determination, triumph, determined, leadership, clear purpose, logic, reason, law, good judgment, decisiveness, center of attention, charisma, sexual vigor, fiery, cut away what's not needed , identify long term goals, dispelling illusions, lighting the dark places.

7 Samurai / SnowBoards

Last year; after toying around with the idea with a colleague and friend, I decided to "step-up" and go for the challenge of coming up with a few snowboard designs. I thought it would be cool to make a samurai series, inspired by "Akira Kurosawa's" 7 Samurai (one of my all time fav films). While delving into the process, I thought it would be nice to draft the designs to look like traditional Japanesee woodcut prints, but with a modern flare to them. Following are samples of the "in-the-making" process and final board design, referring to the first snowboard in the 7 samurai series (MIYAMOTO). This board was designed in honor of one of the greatest japanese fencing masters of the XVI century "Miyamoto Musashi", a philosopher , artist, and great samurai.

The Art of T-SHIRT design.

...I've had several friends ask me in the past, if I could make them a custom design to put on a t-shirt. I'm not very good at graphic design, I thought, but was up for the challenge. Since I haven't done much graphic art work (way-back-when maybe, during my " days" of sculpting glass) I thought it would be fun to come up with a couple of simple designs, as an experiment before committing to someones request. Below are some samples of what came out during this process of delving into t-shirt design, a total art form in itself I found out (there's allot more to it than I thought when I said "yes", to the experience, believe me). Since than, got a bit hooked, and made about 20+ various designs ranging from "retro-pop" styled to "spiritually" inspired (enough for awhile). Below are some samples of the designs I made, in reference to the Chacra T-shirts. I had allot of fun in delving into the research of making them, and setting up the "funky" mock-ups ( respecting the color vibration, form, and conditions of each chacra within the design process was essential). Since than, the "Chacra Tribe" t-shirts have become available for print, to be worn by all who appreciate the designs, and would like to wear them in good health. --side note: didn't have any budget saw-bucks at the time to make some live prototypes, and model them on beautiful people, so... had to come up with the alternative 3D mock-up approach-- kinda "Burning man" look.. so I apologize upfront, for the "T-2" skeleton type manikins :)--namaste Phil

domo arigato ANGEL san !!!! ...another concept / promo, exploring what angel's may look like (depends on who's looking right ?) This concept is a first in series of 7 "Mecha-Angel's" I'm currently working on (one angel for each day of the week)."Uriel" corresponds to the third day of our Gregorian week (Wednesday), and is a spiritual guide to those who are born on that day (even if your a robot).

"Angel del Este" first in a series of angel concepts I did a few years ago. This Angel corresponds to the eastern hemisphere (ASIA). I have finished the other three as well (North, South and West), but for some reason I like this one the best ... (what do angel's really look like anyway ?)
